About Terengganu
Geography - Climate and Weather
Just like the other parts of Malaysia, Terengganu experiences hot and humid weather all year round with
temperatures averaging between 28 to 30 degrees Celsius and slightly cooler after sunset. Terengganu receives
heavy rainfall during the periods when the north-east monsoon blows. This is between November and January.
Some areas of Terengganu experience floods at this period. Visiting offshore islands of Terengganu around
this period is not advisable.

Central Point Kemaman, Mesra Mall, Astaka
When in Terengganu, the Mesra Mall is a place not to be missed. This is a modern mall which is located in Kemasik
and is the only place in Terengganu with Cineplex, a 24-lane bowling alley, futsal center, squash courts and food courts.
The Mesra Mall was officially opened on the 10th of October in 2009 on a site of 30 acres in size. Each floor has a 315,000
square feet over one level. This is indeed a one-stop center for shopping, entertainment, leisure, dining and banking.
Other than the Mesra Mall, there are also the Central Point Kemaman and Astaka in Terengganu for visitors to pay
a visit.
Dining / Restaurant
Here in Terengganu, the famous dish here is the stuffed crab. One of the places to dine such dish would be
at the Tong Juan Restaurant. Other than the stuffed crabs, there are also other dishes like the deep fried fish,
toufu, prawns and many more.
Another great place for Chinese food would be at the Pertama Kijal Restaurant in Kemaman. Stuffed crabs here
are also a favorite here. The Lian Fong Yuen Restaurant is also another place to go to if you want to dine good
homecooked Chinese food.
Activities
One of the most popular tourist attractions in Terengganu is the one and only Redang Island (Pulau Redang).
It is one of the largest islands located at the east of Malaysia. The Redang Island is one of the nine islands
which make up a marine park where you can do some diving and snorkeling.
The island is also a vital area for the conservation for sea turtles. The Redang Island is the largest in the
group of nine islands. It measures 7 kilometers in length. Thousands of tourists come to Redang Island every year
to enjoy the breath taking views as well as the beautiful sight underwater and its marine life.
Another place not to miss is the Lake Kenyir. The Lake Kenyir is an artificial lake which is situated in
Terengganu. The lake was created back in 1985 due to the damming of the Kenyir River when building the
Sultan Mahmud Power Station. The Lake Kenyir is the largest man-made lake in the world. The lake is also
the place to access to the Taman Negara. The main attractions at the Lake Kenyir would be the eco-tourism
carried out here. Popular activities here are jungle trekking, fishing, kayaking, boating, rafting and shooting
rapids.
Another famous island in Terengganu is the Perhentian Islands. There are two main islands which make up the
Perhentian Islands. They are the Perhentian Besar and Perhentian Kecil. This is a great place to enjoy the
view, and do some snorkeling. Deep sea diving can also be done here at the Perhentian Islands. There are
several resorts to choose from when staying at the Perhentian Islands.
Transport
Transport in Terengganu is mainly taxis and buses. If you have your own transport, that would be ideal.
